Earth Day: April 22

It’s Earth Day April 22!  Join us at Pacific Northwest Raptors to celebrate “Big Blue”.  It is humbling to think about how much Earth provides for us- water, air, food, shelter...Take this opportunity to get out and thank her by appreciating her beauty and marveling at the diversity of species. Today there will be a special flying demo to honour and showcase a variety of birds of prey, each with their own unique adaptations that make them successful survivors in the wild.  Join us after the 1:30 flying demo for an eco-workshop.  Children will also be able to enjoy arts and crafts activities.

Easter Weekend - egg hunts & more

Enjoy an exciting afternoon with your children while searching for eggs in the grass and along the pathways around the centre.  Meet some very interesting feathery friends at the centre and learn about birds of prey biology, eggs, and nests. A raptors' egg hunt, treats and fun crafts and activities will also occur from 12-3pm!

They learn the basics of raptor biology and identification as well as an introduction to working with these birds. With fun and games, kids will learn without even knowing it!

Basic I camps are introductory experiences - but fun to repeat each year.

Basic II is more advanced, for those who are older (10-12) and/or have taken the basic I at least 1-2 times.

Excellent learning and fun summer activities for children aged 8 -12. For older kids interested in raptors, please see our apprenticeship programs.

2011 - Apprenticeship Programs for Teens & Adults

Apprenticeship programs are for young adults and adults who are interested in working with birds of prey. The programs involve a two or three day program of handling birds of prey, learning about their biology, care, management and health. They will cover a variety of topics including some theory on medical work, rehab, housing, regulations and more, but most will be hands-on experience. Adults are also able to take the apprenticeship program - in fact the program is an excellent way to spend time with your teen/young adult. Families visiting from out of town often book the program, so the centre is flexible and will work to accommodate your needs.

Call or email for more information on availability and times.
