PEST BIRD PROBLEMS?? We can help!

Within urban, rural and agricultural landscapes, many invasive
native and non-native bird species can build up in large numbers
and create bird pest problems. Tall buildings in cities, industrial
buildings, and large agricultural barns provide sheltered,
protected, and often warm habitats for birds such as pigeons,
seagulls, starlings and crows, to roost and nest. Feed mills,
animal barns and agricultural crops also provide concentrated,
productive food sources for many of these birds.
In some cases the pest birds create potential health hazards
to humans. Pigeons for example carry a number of diseases
that can affect humans; breeding gulls may direct physical
harassment at workers on tall buildings, geese may foul golf
courses and playing fields with their droppings. The birds
damage buildings, statues, equipment, fixtures, facilities,
products and packaging with their droppings and nesting debris.
In agricultural areas, crops such as blueberries, raspberries
and grapes can be decimated by large flocks of starlings and
other bird pests.
Raptors as Environmentally Sound Pest
Management!
PNWR has extensive experience in control of problem birds
at airports, landfills, industrial settings, and rural and
agricultural sites. We tackle these applied wildlife management
problems through the use of trained birds of prey. Birds of
prey are a very effective and rapid method of dispersal of
species such as seagulls. While many of the pest species tend
to habituate readily to a variety of deterrents (such as mechanical
scaring devices) trained hawks and falcons, when flown by
an experienced operator, is generally a highly effective control
technique.
